Visiting Peru.. I have IPHONE 3G ATT,, can I bring it and will it worK?

I will be in Peru for a month and was wondering if my Iphone 3g will work,, I use the ATT network. Now, I realize the charges could be crazy- but what about changing the Sim cards etc... any help with this woudl be great
